A GREEN FLOORING SOLUTION
Cork is a sustainable, eco-friendly flooring material that is recyclable, leaves a small carbon footprint, and has very low VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
ABOUT CORK FLOORING
Cork is better than a renewable resource because it doesn’t have to be renewed. Cork is made from the bark of trees, which then grows back for re-harvesting without the need to be re-planted. The tree is not destroyed or damaged during the harvesting process.
In addition, cork cannot be harvested from the same plant more than once in a 9-year period. A tree has to reach 60 cm in circumference before its bark can be harvested. On top of that, the first harvest from a cork tree cannot occur until the tree is 25 years of age.
A recycled product, cork floors are made from the waste cork from the production of wine stoppers. To complete the circle of sound environmental practices, water-based finishes & adhesives are commonly used on cork floors.
